Prestwick

6,544 yards • par 71

Forever remembered as the birthplace of the Open Championship, Prestwick has hosted 24 Opens in all, the last one being 1926, after which the crowds were deemed too large.

Prestwick golf course holds a special place in the golfing history books, having been the venue for the first-ever Open Championship back in 1860.

The first tee sits beside Prestwick Station and the railway line runs all the way down the right-hand side of the opening hole. There are plenty of other holes where a score can come off the tracks, though, the huge ‘Cardinal Bunker’ providing potential trouble at the third and the ‘Himalayas’ having to be negotiated at the 206-yard par-3 fifth.

Prestwick Golf Club is a relaxed and friendly club that enjoys hosting golfers from all around the World. Visitors are encouraged to use their temporary membership to its full capacity, and enjoy the full lunch in the lavish Dining room or just a snack in the relaxed Cardinal room.
