Braid Hills

5,390 yards • par 70

Braid Hills has two municipal courses and its flagship No.1 course is one of the most vertically challenging golfing tests in Edinburgh.  Although it comes in less than 6,000 yards, you will find this course is not about length but more about testing golf shots from one hilly crag to the next.

The golf itself is set amongst some of the most fearsome gorse rough but you can be rewarded by playing into beautifully kept and true greens. Wayward shots are punished, but straight drives are prized with hard fought Birdies and Pars. It plays to all of its 5892 yards and you would be rewarded coming away with a par of 70.

The signature 14th tees off from on high, playing to either side of a gorse ridge, avoiding the cliff to the right, the second shot plays up to a large green. The hole plays to all it 354 yards, par 4 and is a fine example of the type of hole that makes up this stunning course. From November to March, this course combines with Braids No. 2 Course to create a Braids Winter course, open for 7 days on normal greens.
